Detail Description

First edition of these discourses on tefillah, Rosh Ha-Shnanah, and other festivals by R. Joseph ben Isaac Ezik Haver. An additional parts of this work is Mateh Yosef with Hotem Taknit. The title page describes Sha’ar Yosef as a gate open to the spirit, “to the inheritance and to the rest” (cf. Deuteronomy 12:9). “This is the Torah of the burnt offering” (Leviticus 6:2) and meal offering, to open the gates for a blessing “sought out all by all who love them” (Psalms 111:2) to restore the hearts of servants to their master, reproofs that “are life to those who find them” (Proverbs 4:22). R. Joseph ben Isaac Ezik Haver was av bet din in Kinishin. The title page is dated with a chronogram based on the author and his father’s name. The discourses, of which there are seven, follow immediately after the title page. Next, from 30a, with its own title page, is Mateh Yosef, additional discourses, also on festivals and the beginning of the year, here beginning with an introduction (30b-31b) and including ten discourses, each divided into numbered paragraphs.
