Detail Description

Ethics, laws and customs in Yiddish. Intended for women who could not read Hebrew. The Author discusses manners and etiquette in the context of German Jewish life and emphasized the joys of living. To promote the joy, the author included poems and folk songs for all occasions accompanied by their musical notation.

The book was heavily used by women leaving very few copies that have survived the test of time, especially in such good condition.

The Yiddish version of laws sparked controversy from those advocating the Jewish laws be printed in Hebrew only. Accordingly, some editions were printed without the laws section. This edition includes the laws.
