Detail Description

Ordination letter for R. Shmuel by R. Elijah Holmnetz of Meistetz, Bohemia dated Tuesday, the day following Yom Kippur of 5568 (1807) in Meistetz. R. Elijah, in his youth, studied with R. Eliezer Flekles (1754-1826), rabbi of Prague for over 40 years, apparently in the Yeshva of R. Nissim Shidlov. R. Elijah served as rabbi of Meistetz, a small village in Bohemia (see responsa to him in Tshuva M-Ahavah, Orah Hayyim, chap 244) and corresponded with many of the generations prominent rabbis. His responsa appear in above, Maase Rav of R. Bezalel Ranhburg (1762-1820), Tshuvat MaHarNaH, and others.
