Detail Description

Hebrew edition of this popular story set in medieval Castille (fifteenth century).. Yaari (Calcutta Imprints) informs that it first appeared in the journal Maggid Mesharim where it was serialized in numbers 3:14 – 33. Yaari writes that Zaddik ve-Nosha was written in German by Ludwig Philippson, translated into Hebrew by Moses Meir Astrinsky, and printed by R. Solomon ben Abad Tovina (Tvena). Friedberg, however, attributes it to Wilhem Frey but agrees that the Hebrew translation was done by Moses Meir Astrinsky. The Jewish National and University Library also gives Frey as the author. It has three Hebrew editions.
