Detail Description

A shedar letter to the Jewish community of Meknes to support the Tiberian Jewish Community as they have suffered the drafting of their young men, women and small children are left with husbands to support them. The letter is endorsed via stamp by:

R. Abraham Abuhazira (1841-1913) son of Rebbe Jacob the Avir Ya'akov. He was born in Tafilalt Morocco and educated by his illustrious father. R. Abraham shied away from any publicity or public office and devoted his life to study and prayer. He edited and published his father's works Avir Ya'akov and Ginzei Melekh. He came to Erez Israel and settled in Tiberias where he was highly respected as one of the great rabbis of the period. (Enc. Hakhmei Erez Israel)

R. Elijah b. Abraham Yaluz (1860-1929) was born in Mezgida, Morocco. In 1873 his family oved to Erez Israel and settled in Tiberias. In 1875, he married Simcha, daughter of R. David A-Sudri. He spent the next few years studying Torah and delving into Halacha. In 1872 he was appointed to the Bet Din in Tiberias, eventually becoming the Chief Judge of the Bet Din and served until his passing. R. Yaluz, as a distinguished rabbinic scholar headed several delegations to various countries to raise funds for the poor of Tiberias. His works were published by his son after his passing.

R. Makhlif b. Moshe Shitrit (1867-1941), kabbalist and rabbinic authority. He was born in Tafilalt Morocco and educated by his illustrious father. He came to Tiberias in 1885 and studied in the Yeshiva of R. David Abu. His rabbinic and kabbalistic scholarship, piety were greatly respected by all and was oft referred to as the G-dly Mekubal. (Enc. Hakhmei Erez Israel)

R. Shmuel b. David Ben Kiki (1842-1919) He was born in Rabat, Morocco, came to Erez Israel at age 10. An erudite rabbinic and Talmudic scholar, he served as a Judge and Chief Judge in the Tiberias Bet Din. He wrote Dovid Shem commentary to Torah; manuscript Kodesh Yisroel, homilies. (Enc.
