Detail Description

Letter affirming the reliability of a Sighet resident, Joseph Rottenberg, and stating his observance of kosher laws by the dayyan, R. Jekuthiel Judah Gross. R. Gross was rabbi in Berbesti from 1916-26, when he was appointed dayyan in Sighet. He served until 1944 and perished in the Holocaust. An erudite Talmudical scholar, his responsa appears in many contemporary works.
