Detail Description

Prophets, Former and Ezikiel of Later, this lot is a section from a complete Bible printed by Kappa Ilan.

The possibility that the place of printing given in Hebrew as גנווא should be read as Genoa cannot be excluded. Little is known of the Christian printer, as Jews were expelled from the city in 1490 and subsequently no Jews lived in Geneva for 300 years. An 18-volume duodecimo edition of the Hebrew Bible (1617–20) and a volume of Proverbs with interlinear Latin translation (1616) by the same printer are extant.
