Physical Description:

First edition, folio, 154, 180 pp. 290:180 mm., wide margins, light age staining, old hands, final partially backed with paper repairs. A good copy bound in modern cloth over boards, rubbed.

 

Detailed Description:   

First edition of this two part detailed commentary on Shulhan Arukh Yoreh De’ah by R. Samuel Hayyim ben of Ozorków. The title-page of part one, with an attractive border, states that R. Samuel Hayyim has collected and gathered the halakhot on Y. D, from all the poskim, rishonim and aharonim on the4 S. A. and Rema, Taz, Shakh, Pri Hadash, and numerous others, also noted on the title-page, as well She’lot u’Teshuvot. Part one covers simanin 1 through 69. There are two pages of fifteen approbations followed by R. Samuel Hayyim’s introduction, a list of t he rishei tevot (abbreviations) in the text, and then the text in two columns in rabbinic letters beginning with a, introduction to hilkhot shehitah and then hilkhot shehitah. Part two, also on Yoreh De’ah, has a separate title-page with like text but adds that it is in simanim 69 through  122 and includes hiolkhot ribis,  and niddah as well as likutei Orah Hayyim inckuding hatmana and ikkur hilkhot Peas. The texst begisn with an introduction to hilkhot melihah followed by the text.
